small hotel, big room for improvement
i was drawn in by the friendly owner, but the overwhelming mothball smell in the lobby was tough to bear. neither the squeaky bed nor the broken mini-fridge added to the experience.

I felt right at home during my stay. The bed was comfortable, and the TV offered good channels. I was initially worried about not getting through on the phone, but that changed when I noticed how clean everything was. The staff provided helpful service throughout. I appreciated the extra amenities like a microwave in the room for some snacks. As a European traveler, the simplicity was refreshing.
The thin walls made it easy to hear noise from the hallway and neighboring rooms. Also, I noticed some issues with the phone connection when trying to reach the reception.

The stay was okay, but the mini-fridge was useless due to a broken gasket. The mattress was really squeaky. It was clean, and the bed was adequate, though.

During my stay, I was particularly impressed by the proximity to several attractions, like the Fort Duncan Museum and the Plaza de las Culturas. The best part of my visit was exploring the local scene, including a delightful meal at El Chapulin, which offered some of the best street food I've ever tasted. It was convenient to relax at the nearby Maverick County Lake after a day of sightseeing.
